Your wedding day will be a blur and before you know it, it’ll be gone. You want to be able to enjoy every moment of it! Here are five tips to make sure you and your guests get the most out of your reception.
Happy Timelines = Happy Guests
Be it your band leader, DJ, best man or maid of honor, the master of ceremonies should be the one letting guests know when to stand up, when to sit down and when to get themselves on the dance floor. This ensures the sequence of events will keep moving (without you worrying when to let people know their salad course is served). Plus, they’ll be the one announcing speeches and toasts, so you can just sit back, relax and have a sip of champagne when speeches are being read. When we coordinate a wedding, the reception timeline is smooth as butta so nobody is waiting around.
Just Because it’s a Dark Room, Doesn’t Mean You Should Settle for Dark Photos - no, Starwars fans, Darkness is NOT your ally.
We want to see those eyes when they’re getting glossy from your maid of honor’s speech. We want to see your husbands’ and his mom’s first dance. So let’s see it! We always bring lighting equipment with us so that those dark reception locations are still stunning as ever!
Sunset Photos : DO IT!
It’s such a great time to steal you and your husband for some YOU time! Believe it or not, you might not always get a whole lot of that. And the lighting is stunning that time of night. There’s also that.
Instead of a typical three-course menu of salad, entrée and dessert, stretch out dinner over four or five smaller courses (but don't stretch it too much if you're still hoping to get everyone on the dance floor). Plan small surprises between dishes, like a short toast from your hilarious aunt, a sweet poem from a lifelong friend or a professional performance, like a vocalist or dancer. It'll give your guests the experience of a fun night out, complete with dinner and a show.
Photobooth - it’s a must have!
As much as we ALL love the insane and off the charts dancing that’s about to happen, a photobooth is a great time to catch your guests in their silliest moments! You could even have a book ready for them to stick their pictures once they are done. And be sure your photobooth company prints two copies - one for your book and one for your guests to keep! Our photobooth at Honeybee Weddings always comes with two copies of the photobooth strip, comes with an online gallery, and all of the digital images for you at the end of the day.
